Dani, the chair for PCART, has introduced a message board. You can easily log on and chat, leave messages and view the calendar. I appreciate all of the ideas we can share and a venue where new members can add immediately needed perspectives. You can access the messageboard at http://pcart.proboards.com.
Please remember the HSTPC can use your donations of cat food.
Also check out the WSART newletter for training opportunities.

Thank you Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County
I recently met with Kathleen Olsen and Denise McVicker of the Humane Society Tacoma/Pierce County (HSTPC). We discussed the relationship and partnership that we share and outlined how we can support each other's goals. As our young organization moves forward, we welcome all interested organizations to join us and all of our partners, such as HSTPC in working to secure pet support in disaster.
Our love for animals in not our only commonalities. PCART and HSTPC share many volunteers. That alone makes us close partners. Our outstanding voluneers are dedicated and professional, not to mention, friendly. We both succeed by donations. As you consider where to donate your money, please consider that the Humane Society of Tacoma/Pierce County is not affilated with the Humane Society of United States (HSUS) nor the ASPCA. A local and stand alone organization that provide animals a second chance for life, our HSTPC is our own and unique agency. Many organization that depend on donations are struggling at this time, please remember to give locally.
At this time our Humane Society needs cat food. Please buy an extra bag and drop by 2608 Center Street, Tacoma, WA 98409 (253) 383-2733.
HSTPC has un-needed supplies that PCART could use, which they have offered. Any donations we recieive from them could be used to support them during an evacuation. Heaven Forbid! Future pet rescues by PCART might be house by HSTPC. PCART could support relocation efforts by HSTPC following a disaster/emergency. This strong tie will build a stronger community in all of Pierce County.
We are grateful for all our friends and hope we meet many more.

PCART is moving forward
As all of you know we are in a transitional period in our economy and as the challenges are out there we will develop creativity in finding solutions. We want to thank Salvation Army, St Vincent DePaul and other organizations that are beginning to collect dog crates, leashes, and bowls for feeding. These items will be collected and added to a kit for each pet friendly shelter in Pierce County. We want to publically thank all of you who are working to gather these items. We have the best volunteers.
